The 2008 International Conservation Photgoraphy Awards exhibit will be displayed at the Museum of History and Industry, located in McCurdy Park at 2700 24th Avenue East, Seattle, WA from August 30th to October 12th, 2008. The exhibit is open to the general public. Comprising of 77 framed prints juried from the entries, the exhibit is prominently and elegantly displayed. Along with the print exhibit, images are posted in our online gallery.
The Gala Opening and Awards Ceremony, was held August 29th at the Museum of History and Industry.
The gallery was filled with photographers and friends who spent the evening viewing the prints from the winning photographers while enjoying refreshments.
ICP Awards Executive Director Richard McEnery discussed the history and mission of the ICP Awards and the power of photography to bring awareness to conservation issues. He thanked MOHAI for their great support in hosting the exhibit, and also thanked the 2008 judges, sponsors and those who helped make the exhibit a success.
Art Wolfe and Richard McEnery presented awards totalling over $10,000 to the winning photographers. Cash awards were presented to the Best in Category winners and merchandise awards were given to the runners-up. In addition, Art Wolfe presented the Art Wolfe Award, designating the Best In Show, to Sue Flood for her image entitled "Humpback Whale Calf with Ramora."
